Virgin Media is a British telecommunications company that provides telephone, television, and internet services in the United Kingdom. Its headquarters are at Green Park in Reading, England. Since 2013, Virgin Media has been a subsidiary of Liberty Global plc, an international television, and telecommunications company. The company was previously listed on the NASDAQ Stock Market and London Stock Exchange.

Virgin Media has a shocking customer service, they hang up when issues can't be solved, an anonymous client shared a review at

"Truly shocking customer service. From being promised that my contract has been renewed at a discounted rate - only to get billed twice in the renewal month, to customer service agents who hang up when they can't resolve your issue. Even worse I have had two incidents of customer service agents telling me they had applied for a refund, only to get charged the full amount again the following month. If you value your sanity - AVOID."

"Someone shouted at me about a project I knew nothing about. It was my third day in the business Senior leadership are awful, rude aggressive and inconsistent. I was threatened with my job for presenting what I was asked to I've been shouted at a lot Expectation to work weekends and evenings for free Lots of micromanaging Very heirarchical, many layers of senior management in very niche roles Lots of JFDIs Lots of politics Very old fashioned ways of working, still using spreadsheets to push work around Took them 5 months to fix a live customer facing incident, after I diagnosed the fault in 3 days."

While they are trying to improve "engagement" they are doing the wrong things and staff apathy shows in "all hands" calls. Turnover in Senior Management has been high."

"Working hours Lack of genuine support in or out of work Lack of functioning tools Internal promotions offered based on favour (especially if your family member is in a senior position) or sexual favours and not skill/ability. Sanctions for prioritising dying family members. Sanctions for time off after family members die! Job progression (seccondments) are handed out willy nilly to entice people to perform with no realistic option on progressing in that role. Bit of a mick take there really, called me a manager for 2 years so I would work all the late shift for you. I did try to communicate with virgin shortly after I left but no one was good enough to respond."

"This is the worst job I’ve ever had. You are working all the hours in the day for terrible wages which for me my worst day was started at 7am and got home about 11pm and they expected me back in the morning at 7am.It’s very hard labour very stressful and u get treated like rubbish. They also trap you in with you have to pay for the training if you leave within 12 months which most people do coz they can’t stand it."

"Management don’t care your made to do about 20 jobs in a day with most jobs only being allowed 30 mine so you could never do it. You can’t really learn on the job cause who your with is constantly rushing. You have to also do sales and its very much about targets targets targets rather than good customer service. Virgin could dispense with half the managers for equal performance, considering their two-faced persona! A culture of profit before the well-being of staff or customers. You're a "TOPMAN" if you push the RAF (refer a friend) leaflets into sales. Keep those NPS scores high again..."TOPMAN". You're targeted on how long you stay at the customer's house. Compromised between quality of installation/service and moving to the next job. "If you're not hitting the delusional targets, you become the target!" Be a TOP-PERSON and look to a brighter future elsewhere!"

"Sole crushing stressfull toxic, stay away at all costs servicing and installing is a horrible job, you are forced into staying late, selling to customers and the managers seem nice but are yes men to senior managers who are only out for themselves."

"With all male staff in Blackpool it’s a male dominant environment. Also work contracts don’t mean a thing there as I was dismissed after 9 months of service with no warning. Woman are made to feel intimidated and very undermined. I would not recommend any young person or woman to apply for this job role."

"Virgin aspires to be different, and back when it was an independent company it was a great place to work. I would have had no hesitation in recommending it as an employer. However, now, not so much! VM is all about turf and has a major sloping shoulders ethos. Mediocre management whose main function is to shift responsibility and protect their bonus at any cost. "Do not become a direct sales advisor for Virgin unless you want to be treated with contempt and regularly listen to patronising feedback. The sales advisor role is a already very difficult, made even worse by completely incompetent management. The management in direct sales have recently had a shake up, those at the helm now are all from a venue sales background, none of them have any idea about direct sales. The management are preoccupied with self improvement plans, needless meetings and daily conference calls. They all have a false sense of self importance. It’s unfortunate, because the Brand is so well known, the products are decent. "they were once a force for good and now they r bullying and ill treating their staff to the decree that agents with tenure are being so badly treated that they r leaving in droves, new agents are given NO support and the stats that are totally unachievable cause undue stress.This is from personal experience of working there for 17 years and seeing management working there that are bullying staff including managers.They have a absolutely No career prospects, and if any do appear are given to the agents they prefer and not capable agentsdiscountbeing treated like a slave and bullied"

"The worst Internet provider available. Utterly shocking Internet speeds. They claim upto 200mbps and you get that around 20% of the time. The rest of the time its slower than 3g. Customer service is also useless."

"shocking service. I have been waiting for 5 days to be reconnected after Virgin mistakenly disconnected my service. Each time I've called it has taken 30+ minutes to speak to someone, and then when I do speak to someone no one actually knows what's going on. How can they get away with treating customers like this?"

"Good bit - the broadband and tv we had was reliable. Been with them 10yrs on and off. Bad bit - All the rest. 10 mins on the phone to get a replacement remote for the TiVo box. Put their prices up when they bloody well want to and at random prices. They have no respect or love for exiting customers.... they don’t give a sh!t. Get them in on a good deal and fck them off after. Tried to get the deal of the new customer (a deal I was on , but was half price for new customers.) They wouldn’t budge and offered me a £5 a month discount. Absolute shower. Frankly, I’d rather inject creosote into my eyes than ever use them again. Staff were always nice on the phone, but the whole system and company ethos is dire. Save money and go to Plusnet!"

"The absolute worst company I have ever ever worked for with some of the worst two faced little sneaks I have ever met. I worked in their IT department and they literally had team leaders who had severe personality disorders and treated staff like s##t. I witnessed one of them stick two fingers right into an employees face and say f##off. When redundancies came around the team leaders engineered it so their buddys and little sneaks kept their jobs (even if they were absolutely abysmal at their job), they just literally picked the people they were not friends with and they lost their jobs (They took VM to court and won ha ha ha ha for unfair dismisal). The managers all stab each other in the backa nd VM seems to want to push an atmosphere of tell tale sneaks so everyone is fighting amongst themselves. An absolute horrible place to work and it stems form the top down. I left and it was the best day of my life to leave that toxic atmosphere of snakes. If you are thinking of working for VM THINK AGAIN and run for the hills."
